The VTT Biotools is a research programme. Its purpose is to develop competitive new technologies and methods for life sciences.

The programme involves the establishment of multidisciplinary teams that will refine both existing and new ideas into innovative products. Team members have expertise in areas such as biochip and sensor engineering, mechanics and electronics, which will be combined with biological applications.

The primary beneficiaries of the projects are pharmaceutical industry diagnostics and other biotechnology industries.

VTT's expertise on biochip, sensor engineering, mechanics and electronics are combined in the new VTT Biotools Research Programme.
